Strength & Performance Coaching in Austin, TX

You're not broken. You're just not ready.

The Capacity Gap

Less pain. Still not ready. Here's why.

Most clients have already tried physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, massage, or rest. Pain often goes down, but readiness rarely follows automatically, because pain and capacity are two different things.

Pain Relief ≠ Capacity

Reducing pain doesn't automatically rebuild the strength, power, or coordination needed to handle your sport or daily life again.

Testing, Not Guessing

We measure force, power, and movement quality directly, then retest on a schedule, so progress is tracked, not assumed.

Built Around You

Programming is based on your history, your sport or activity, and your specific limiting factors, not a fixed template.

A Real Standard for Ready

You'll know the specific benchmark that means you're prepared, instead of guessing based on how today feels.

Where You're Starting From

Four starting points. One standard of training.

You don't need "a trainer." You need a plan built for where you're actually starting from.

Path 01

Return to Sport

Surgery or injury sidelined you, and you need to be race-ready or game-ready, not just cleared.

  • Triathlon, Ironman, marathon, post-ACL soccer, racket sports
  • Sport-specific power, load tolerance, and durability under real volume
  • Objective readiness testing before you push back to competition
Return-to-Sport Training →
Path 02

Return to Activity

PT cleared you, but you're still holding back on the golf course, the court, or the trail.

  • Golf, tennis, pickleball, recreational sports
  • Activity-specific strength and confidence under real load
  • Built for going all-in again, not just getting by
Return-to-Activity Training →
Path 03

Chronic Pain to Strength

Massage and rest keep working. Until they don't, again.

  • Back, hip, knee, shoulder pain that keeps returning
  • Building real capacity instead of chasing short-term relief
  • Coordinated with your doctor or PT, not a replacement for either
Chronic Pain Training →
Path 04

Strength & Performance

No injury to work around. You just want to train hard and get objectively stronger.

  • General strength, power, and conditioning programming
  • Same testing and retesting standard as every other client
  • For people who want a real coach, not a workout of the day

Our Philosophy

Pain is information. Weakness is not the enemy. Avoidance is.

The goal was never just to feel better. It's to become more resilient, because the stronger and more coordinated your body is, the more options you have. Strength creates freedom.

Inside AthleX
Every session, measured. Every rep, intentional.
The AthleX Process

Assess. Plan. Train. Track.

It starts with a free conversation, no cost, no pressure. From there, every client follows the same system.

01

Assess

We learn your history and goals on a free call, then run in-person testing so we know exactly where your capacity stands before we write a single rep.

Force Plate
Moxy
InBody
Movement
02

Plan

Individualized programming built around your specific gaps, history, and goals, never a template handed to every client.

03

Train

Progressive strength training and technique work, progressed at a pace your body can actually handle.

04

Track

We retest strength, power, and movement quality on a schedule, so progress is a trendline you can see. That's how you get back to golf, tennis, pickleball, or just keeping up with your kids.

★★★★★
Progress on a torn ACL that 2 years of PT couldn't unlock

"Highly recommend training with Chris from AthleX. I have seen great progress since signing on for a 12 week program and have already broken through barriers with my repaired torn ACL that I was unable to while seeing a traditional physical therapist weekly for the last two years."

— Justin E., Return-to-Sport client, Google review
★★★★★
Real strength gains while managing chronic back and neck pain

"I've made so much progress working with AthleX! Alyssa is unlike any trainer I've had before. She's so intentional, and my workouts feel highly personalized. She's helped me recover from injuries, manage chronic back and neck pain, build muscle mass and gain strength. I highly recommend!"

— Shannon P., Chronic Pain client, Google review
★★★★★
Avoided back surgery, then hit a 400lb deadlift PR

"I came to Chris with severe back pain from herniated discs and was told surgery was my only option. Within a few months, my pain was gone, and I eventually smashed deadlift PRs — 200 lbs, 300 lbs, and even over 400 lbs."

— Nolan W., Chronic Pain client, Google review
★★★★★
Back to pain-free running after an IT band injury derailed race training

"Would highly recommend AthleX. I was suffering from an IT band injury while training for a race and couldn't run more than 3 miles without pain. After an initial consultation with Alyssa, I signed up and worked with her while getting personalized workout emails 3x a week that even showed the moves. Alyssa was very patient and always gave me workout modifications if something wasn't working. Would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs a trainer or is suffering through mobility issues."

— Dashka D., Return-to-Sport client, Google review
★★★★★
Finally moving pain-free after a year-long sports injury

"I want to give a 5 star review to Alyssa for helping me feel like myself again. I have struggled for a year with a sport's injury that wouldn't heal. Alyssa listened and created a comprehensive workout and meal plan for me. I am finally regaining my strength and confidence to be able to move pain free. I totally recommend Alyssa and Chris at AthleX for their knowledge and amazing care. I am truly grateful."

AthleX worked directly with his PT on a pelvic floor recovery plan

"They didn't dismiss my issues or try to push me into a one-size-fits-all program. Instead, they work with my physical therapist to create a routine specifically designed for me. After three months, my physical therapist is incredibly impressed with the progress I've made."

— Chris B., Client, Google review

Common Questions

Before you book

Do you train clients during pregnancy or postpartum?

Yes. We train clients during and after pregnancy to help them get back to the goals they have, adjusting your program along the way.

What if I'm not injured, just not confident in my body anymore?

You don't need an injury or a doctor's note to train with us. Plenty of our clients have never been hurt, they just want real coaching, real testing, and to get stronger. Others are easing back into their sport or activity at their own pace. Either way, you're exactly who AthleX is built for.

What happens on the discovery call?

15 minutes, no cost. We ask about your history, your goals, and what you've already tried, and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit before you book anything further.

How many sessions will I need?

There's no fixed number; we build a custom program specific to your needs and goals. Recovering from an ankle sprain and wanting to get back to sport looks very different from recovering from a fracture. Your evaluation shows us specifically where you're starting from, and that shapes your plan and timeline from there.

Do I need a referral from my doctor or PT?

No referral required to book a discovery call. If you're currently in active treatment or have an unresolved medical concern, we'll ask you to be cleared by your provider before we begin training.

Is this a replacement for physical therapy?

No. AthleX is a strength and performance training service, not medical care. We coordinate with your physician or physical therapist. We don't diagnose or treat.

Do you accept insurance?

We don't accept insurance directly, but we do accept FSA and HSA.

Still not sure if you're ready?

That's what the call is for. 15 minutes, no cost, no obligation. We'll tell you honestly if we're the right fit.
